Sat. Jan 14th 2017

Around 10:45 Station 22 was activated to respond to the 5800 block of Kennedy Ave for a report of a gas meter leaking outside the structure.

E22-2 arrived on scene and sent a crew to investigate. Building was in the process of being evacuated when E22-2 arrived on scene.

Crew checked the interior of structure and advised the interior was cleared of any gas fumes.  The main feed was shut off until the source of the problem was found. After checking the meters one meter was found to be leaking.

Chief 22 requested Peoples Gas Company to the scene.

Peoples arrived on scene and determined that the one meter was bad and needed to be replaced.

The gas rep advised that we could advise everyone that they could return to the structure.

Units were cleared by the gas company and returned in service.
